Here's more proof that, regardless of what's commonly believed, real Rock'N'Roll didn't die out in the late 1950s/ early 1960s. It's true that after Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Elvis and Jerry Lee left the scene (one way or another) the vacuum was filled by mild teen idol singers. That's what the Top 40 charts show. But on the local level where kids experienced live music - and wanted to dance - hardcore R&R never really died out, and some of the cats who played hard R&B and R&R early on never really changed a whole lot.
